Javanshir Fouladvand is an Assistant Professor of Complex Energy System Design, Modelling and Governance at the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development at Utrecht University, where he teaches and researches the system complexities, computational models and alternative governance modes to support the energy transition. Javanshir's two main research lines are (i) institutional design, collective action, and governance of energy systems and (ii) the environmental footprint of different actors, processes, products and events (including Life Cycle Assessment). He uses computational modelling and simulation (e.g., optimisation and agent-based modelling) in combination with quantitative approaches (e.g., questionnaires, interviews, and focus groups) to conduct his research. He holds a PhD in complex (energy) system engineering from the Technology, Policy and Management faculty of Delft University of Technology. He is part of several Dutch and European projects as a task and work package leader.
