Jaap Bos (1961) studied theoretical and historical psychology in Groningen and Utrecht. he finished his studies in 1988 and was employed by the University of Utrecht the following year. In 1997 he finished his PhD dissertation on argumentation and debates in the history of psychoanalysis (published in German as Autoritaet und Erkentinis, 2000). He is has an interest in historiography and theory of the social sciences, and in communication studies. Since he has worked on a number of projects, among which the problem of marginality in institutional settings; uses of humour in political debate; strategies of persuasion in management, and analysis of historic controversies. A book on communication was published in 2006 (Discoursanalyse. Communicatie op de werkvloer). A book on marginality in psychoanalysis co-authored with Leendert Groenendijk appeared in 2007 (The Self-Marginalization of Wulhelm Stekel). A biography of pedagogue Martinus Langeveld was published in 2011 (M.J.Langeveld. Pedagoog aan de hand van het kind). Jaap Bos is editor in chief of Tijdschrift voor Biografie. Presently he works at the University of Utrecht, dept. of Interdisciplinary Social Studies (ASW). He lives in Utrecht, and has two children. |
