My PhD research focusses on reconstructing the landscape of the southern North Sea region during the Eemian and Early Weichselian, between 130 and 80 thousands years ago. How did the environment change during this period, and how did variations in Earth's climate influence the evolution of the landscape during this time period? How did the climatic cooling after the last interglacial affect the landscape? I conduct this research by looking at sediments from the North Sea which provide information on the depositional environment such as past vegetation surrounding the sea, and salinity of the water in the North Sea basin.
