Before joining the Utrecht School of Economics, George was an Associate Professor at Kingston Business School, London, where he also served as a staff-governor of Kingston University.

George holds a PhD from the Bayes Business School (former Cass Business School, City University London). He has received a BSc in Mathematics from the National University of Athens and a BA in Accounting and Finance from the Athens University of Economics and Business. Following a period of working in education and in the industry in Athens, George established his own corporate consultancy business specialising in corporate branding and premium products development. 

Winning a competitive Greek National Scholarship for postgraduate studies abroad, George has completed a PhD in accounting and finance at City University, London (Bayes Business School). His subsequent academic career started as a Lecturer at the School of Economics, Finance and Management, University of Bristol, followed by an Assistant Professor appointment at the Essex Business School, before moving to Kingston Business School as Associate Professor. At Kingston Business School, George was course director for many accounting and finance courses and has developed a number of new courses for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. He served as director of partnerships with universities and private educational institutions in Greece and Cyprus and as external panel members for many undergraduate and postgraduate programmes re-accreditations and re-validations.

George has developed and taught various undergraduate, postgraduate and MBA courses in accounting, finance, financial markets, mergers and acquisitions and international financial management, in various UK and international universities, such as the City University, University of Bristol, Essex University, Kingston University, Sussex University, Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, Institute of Banking and Finance Cyprus, Birkbeck University London and the Global MBA of the University of London. 

George’s research interests are in the areas of corporate finance and market-based accounting. His doctorate was on corporate restructuring and corporate divestments. He has published research in international pear-revied journals, such as the Journal of Banking and Finance, European Financial Management, Transportation Research E, Research in International Business and Finance, Compensation and Benefits Review, Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting and Technological Forecasting and Social Change.
