Dr. Francesca di Cicco

Francesca Di Cicco is a postdoctoral researcher at the department of Social, Health and Organizational Psychology. Her main research interests include sensory perception (especially visual and olfactory) as a driver of human well-being and sustainable consumer behavior.

During her master's internship at DSM, Francesca started to develop her research interests by merging chemistry, sensory perception and human health.

Prior to joining UU, she obtained her PhD in visual perception at the Perceptual Intelligence Lab at Delft University of Technology, working in collaboration with the faculty of Art of History of UU, using a novel approach to understanding the mechanisms of visual material perception through the implicit knowledge of 17th-century painters.

She is currently working on determining the visual features of healthy face perception and on the connection between olfactory perception of recycled plastic and sustainable behavior.
