Eline de Jong is a lecturer in the Department of Cultural Anthropology. She holds a BA in Literary and Cultural Analysis from the University of Amsterdam and an MSc in Social Anthropology from the University of Oxford. She is currently finalising her PhD at the University of Antwerp. Drawing on ethnographic fieldwork in Belgium and Austria, her research investigates how notions of deservingness shape practices and decisions in policy-making and social service provision for people with a migration background.
