Elisavet Pasidi is a PhD candidate at the Department of Human Geography and Spatial Planning, Faculty of Geosciences, Utrecht University. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, in 2019, followed by a Research Master’s in Child Development and Education from the University of Amsterdam in 2023.
In her interdisciplinary PhD project, “Children’s Independent and Risky Play at Neighborhood Public Spaces”, Elisavet leverages her background in child-related studies in conjunction with urban geography, specifically emphasizing the field of children’s geographies. She will investigate how the physical and social aspects of residential environments influence children’s independent and risky play, ultimately aiming to co-create interventions with children that target both their physical environments (e.g., public space design) and social environments (e.g., parental risk-aversion) to encourage and support their independent and risky play in their neighborhoods.
