Dea van Lierop is an Associate Professor in Human Geography and Spatial Planning at Utrecht University. Her research promotes equity and inclusion in transportation and land-use planning by combining practical, evidence-based approaches with creative and interdisciplinary methodologies. She focuses on improving mobility experiences for transit users, cyclists, and pedestrians across diverse population groups. Her areas of expertise include travel satisfaction, Transit-Oriented Development (TOD), transit service planning, shared mobility, paratransit, and universal accessibility. She serves as Chair and appointed member of the TRB Standing Committee on Public Transportation Marketing and Fare Policy, and is also a member of the TRB Standing Committee on Bicycle Transportation. Additionally, she is a board member of the World Symposium on Transport and Land Use Research. Dea is part of the editorial boards of Transport Reviews, the Journal of Cycling and Micromobility Research, and the Journal of Transport and Land Use, and has served as guest editor for Transportation Research Part A: Policy and Practice. She is also treasurer and board member of the Canadian Studies Association of the Netherlands. Dea earned her PhD in Urban Planning from McGill University in Canada. Before joining Utrecht University, she worked in both the public and private sectors.
