Diana Odier-Contreras is an expert in reparations within the fields of international human rights, international criminal law, and transitional justice. She is currently an Assistant Professor of International Criminal Law and International Human Rights Law with the University College Utrecht (UCU) and a Fellow affiliated with the Netherlands Institute of Human Rights (SIM) at Utrecht University. 

She is also the coordinator of the Double Degree in Law and Liberal Arts & Sciences and serves as a Law courses track coordinator of the UCU Liberal Arts & Science (LAS) program. She is in charge of the academic structure and coherence of all law courses, some of which have been created by her. Diana also holds regular conversations on teaching & learning processes with staff and student representatives. She hosts bi-annual workshops on legal methodology for (LAS) students and supervises bachelor’s and master’s legal thesis.  

Diana defended her PhD in 2018 which was published as a monograph by Intersentia: Collective Reparations: Tensions and Dilemmas between Collective Reparations with the Individual Right to Receive Reparation. Diana’s present research interest lies in assisted reproductive technology and human rights as well as in the use of digital open-source information in bringing accountability for (grave) human rights violations.

Diana has been a visiting scholar at the International Victimology Institute (INTERVICT), Tilburg; and a visiting professional at the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACtHR) in Costa Rica. She has held teaching and research positions in international human rights law across the Netherlands. She has taught several courses at the Bachelor's and Master's level for various departments of Utrecht University. Diana has also been a guest lecturer in various Universities and Institutes across the Netherlands and abroad.

Diana is also a member of the UU Montaigne Centre for Rule of Law and Administration of Justice, and the Association Internationale De Droit Pénal (AIDP).
