Catharine Aretakis is a PhD Researcher at the department of Political History. She did her Bachelor's degree in History and English with a minor in Jewish Studies at the University of South Carolina Honors College from 2017-2020. She graduated from the University of Amsterdam's Master's programme in Holocaust and Genocide Studies in 2021 as a Fulbright Fellow from the United States. Catharine is a current PhD Researcher working on the project 'Provinzentjudung': Local Dynamics and the Holocaust in the Netherlands (1925 - 1950). Catharine is responsible for examining local political dynamics and the choices of local political actors immediately before, during, and after the Holocaust in the provincial Netherlands.
