Dr. Christine Leopold (PhD, MSc) is an Assistant Professor of Drug Regulatory Science at the Center for Pharmaceutical Policy and Regulation / WHO Collaborating Center for Pharmaceutical Policy and Regulation of the Division of Pharmacoepidemiology and Clinical Pharmacy, within the Utrecht Institute for Pharmaceutical Science (UIPS).
She is a pharmaceutical system and policy researcher, who performs cross-country comparative research to tackle questions around access and affordability of medicines. She takes a drug-life-cycle approach in her research by assessing regulatory, health technology assessment (HTA) and pricing/funding processes and policy decisions. She uses cancer care and treatments for patients with rare diseases as case examples. Additionally, she analyzes the role of real-world-evidence (RWE) in these policy decisions.
Her research experience includes managing and implementing systematic reviews, regression modelling, qualitative research, and cross-country health policy analyses. She feels passionate about bridging health system and policy reserach by tackling ethical considerations of priority setting in health care. She has more than 15 years of experience in leading interdisciplinary and multinational networks in pharmaceutical pricing and reimbursement policies.
