I conduct research in coastal margin ecosystems with a focus on the movement and cycling of dissolved inorganic carbon in temperate mudflats and arctic fjord systems. I am interested in benthic biogeochemical processes from an organismal perspective (e.g., macroinfauna and seagrass).

My upcoming and current projects are:

1) Studying the capacity and flux of carbon in Blue carbon ecosystems throughout European coastal systems (https://www.c-blues.eu/). Field work will be conducted in the Baltic, Mediterranean, and North Atlantic coasts in Saltmarsh and seagrass systems. Currently looking for a PhD student for this project: https://www.uu.nl/en/organisation/working-at-utrecht-university/jobs/phd-position-on-assessing-carbon-sequestration-in-blue-ecosystems

2) Assessing the effects of ocean alkalinity enhancement on oyster larvae development and shell mineralogy. Experiments will be conducted in Brest and Villefranche-sur-Mer.

Current project: Impact of climate change on kelp community metabolism and physiology.
