Profiel

Lydia Laninga-Wijnen received her bachelor degree in Pedagogical sciences and her master degrees in the research master Development and Socialisation in Childhood and Adolescence (cum laude, received award for best student of the year) and the master Orthopedagogics at Utrecht University.

In February 2014, she started her PhD at the department of Interdisciplinary Social Sciences, Utrecht University, on the project "Social Network Analysis of Risk behavior in Early Adolescence". The SNARE study looks at how different types of behaviors (antisocial, academic, prosocial and risk behaviors), develop over time and, in particular, how friendships affect this development. Participants are early adolescents who just entered secondary school (about 12 years of age at the start of the study). Three times a year, participants are asked about their behaviors and their friendships.

For her analyses, Lydia will mostly use RSIENA, a statistical programme which looks at the co-evolution of behavior and friendship.
