On Tuesday 13 March we organized a live webinar about the Master’s programme Mathematical Sciences. Our hosts, Professor of Mathematics Gunther Cornelissen and two of our Master’s student discussed the ins and outs of the programme and shared their experiences with you.

What we covered

-  Insights into the programme, study scheme and research areas;
-  Student stories about the programma and life as a student in Utrecht
-  Career prospects and how we prepare you for the job market;
-  Admission requirements and deadlines.

Professor Gunther Cornelissen
Prof dr Gunther Cornelissen

Gunther Cornelissen is a professor of Mathematics, holding the chair in Geometry and Number Theory at Utrecht University. He is specialised in number theory, arithmetic algebraic geometry and noncommutative geometry, with occasional digressions into logic and mathematical physics.

Mireia Martínez i Sellarès (student)
Mathematical Sciences student - Mireia

Mireia studied Mathematics in Barcelona and got to know Utrecht University during the Geometry Summer School, which she attended in August 2016. Based on the great time she had there, she decided to come back to Utrecht for her Master's. She started the programme in 2017 and is doing the Logic track.

Kaj-Ivar van der Wijst (student)
Kaj-Ivar van der Wijst - Mathematical Sciences student

Kaj-Ivar studied Physics and Mathematics in Utrecht, and started his master in Mathematics in September 2016. He has a passion for applying mathematics to solve real world problems which led him to the Complex Systems track. He is now working on his thesis at the Dutch Environmental Assessment Agency.
