The veterinarian of the future

This programme prepares you for the future of the veterinarian profession. Veterinarians are increasingly focused on prevention; they work to prevent health problems in animals. You could choose to work as a practitioner, take a position at a pharmaceutical company or in the feed industry or work as a policymaker or researcher.

Future veterinarians will also continue to do clinical work, such as dehorning calves, performing Caesarean sections vaccinating poultry, taking blood samples and conducting fertility tests.

Working methods

Over the course of the Master's, you will learn to assess:

  • the animals;
  • the animals' environment;
  • the business & business operations;
  • the production processes;
  • the livestock farmer.

You will gather and analyse data and prepare an action plan for the livestock farm. You will meet with the farmer and offer advice to help optimise the structure of their business.

In touch with professional practice and the professional field

All education provided during the Master's is focused on workplace-based learning. You will regularly interact with professional practice and the professional field over the course of the programme. You will analyse and advise multiple businesses and receive training at the livestock clinic and the animal hospital for companion animals and horses. You will also work at the University Farm Animal Practice and at an external veterinary practice.

You really get an opportunity to look beyond the boundaries of the professional field
