In some situations a pre-Master’s programme will be proposed to students to compensate for deficiencies in their previous education. The pre-Master's programme is only available for students with a degree from a Dutch university or university of applied science and who do not require visa / a change in residence permit or housing.When in doubt about your residence permit, you can send an email to Utrecht University's Admissions Office, including a copy of both sides of the permit. Do not forget to state clearly that you are referring to a Pre-Master’s programme.
This Master's programme admits students based on individual requirements in the following areas:
- motivation, talent and learning ability;
- level of knowledge and general and research skills in the relevant field;
- general academic level of thinking and working;
- command of the language or languages of instruction.
We will also assess whether you are capable of completing the Master's programme within the set period. If any deficiencies are found with regard to the required knowledge and skills, you may be required to take a number of courses as a part of the pre-Master's programme first. The admissions board will determine which courses are required in your specific case.
