Study programme

Applied Data Science is a high paced one-year programme (60 EC). EC stands for European Credits, where 1 EC equals 28 hours of work.

Curriculum

The curriculum consists of a 46 EC course part and a 14 EC thesis part.

Course part (46 EC)

The course part of this programme consists of:

  • 1 compulsory course (14 EC)
  • 4 elective courses (30 EC)
  • compulsory colloquium series (2 EC)

Please note: since the ADS curriculum is quite full, we do not recommend to take courses from other UU Master's programmes. Any courses taken outside the Applied Data Sciences programme do not count towards your Applied Data Science degree.

Thesis part (14 EC)

Finally, a thesis is written based on the research project of the programme. All research projects are based on a research question from the domain of applied data science, which are part of the research focus of at least one of the scientific staff members. Subjects will be provided by our academic staff. It is also possible to write your thesis in cooperation with a company.
