Diploma van een niet-Nederlandse universiteit
Deze pagina beschrijft het stapsgewijze proces voor het voltooien van je aanmelding voor een masteropleiding aan de Universiteit Utrecht. Lees deze informatie zorgvuldig door voordat je met je aanvraag begint.
Je komt in aanmerking voor toelating voor het masterprogramma als je:
- beschikt over een bachelor diploma Diergeneeskunde (of 180 EC) van een opleiding geaccrediteerd door EAEVE of AVMA, maar geen bevoegd dierenarts bent én
- voldoet aan de verplichtingen van het schakelprogramma genaamd: Prep course Master Veterinary Medicine bij de Utrecht Summer School én
- voldoet aan de taalvaardigheidseisen op het gebied van Nederlands en Engels
- beschikt over de juiste motivatie voor de Master Diergeneeskunde
NB: Hoewel sommige onderdelen in het Engels gegeven worden, is Nederlands de voertaal van de master Diergeneeskunde.
Taalvaardigheidseisen
Taalvaardigheidseis Nederlands
Voor een masterprogramma gelden de volgende vereisten.
- Aantoonbare beheersing van de Nederlandse taal op niveau B2+/C1 (bijvoorbeeld cursus Nederlands voor Vergevorderden B2 -> C1 bij Babel)
Voor het premasterprogramma geldt:
- NT2, Programma II (Nederlands als tweede taal, niveau 2), afgenomen door de afdeling Examendiensten van ‘DUO’. Het is raadzaam je zo snel mogelijk in te schrijven bij DUO.
- Certificaat Nederlands als Vreemde Taal: ‘Educatief Professioneel' (voorheen Profiel Academische Vaardigheid) of ‘Educatief Startbekwaam' (voorheen Profiel Taalvaardigheid Hoger Onderwijs).
Is Nederlands je moedertaal maar heb je je diploma behaald aan een buitenlandse universiteit? Neem dan contact op met International Student Admissions. Andere studenten met een niet in Nederland behaald diploma moeten bewijs van zowel Nederlandse als Engelse taalvaardigheid indienen.
Het is niet nodig om bij het aanmelden al de testresultaten te overhandigen. Dit kan later.
Taalvaardigheidseis Engels
- IELTS, Academic Module (International English Language Testing System). De minimum vereiste IELTSscore (overall band) is: 6,05 met ten minste 5,5 voor het onderdeel 'writing'.
- TOEFL (Test Of English as a Foreign Language). De minimum vereiste TOEFL score is 83 (internet-based test). ITP-TOEFL-scores worden niet geaccepteerd.
- Cambridge Certificate (niet beschikbaar voor studenten uit China):
- Cambridge English C1 Advanced (CAE). Minimum score: 169 total, 162 writing
- Cambridge English C2 Proficiency (CPE). Minimum score: 180 total, 162 writing
Uitzonderingen: Je hoeft geen bewijs van taalvaardigheid in te dienen als je:
- Een diploma hebt behaald aan een Nederlandse universiteit
- Een middelbareschooldiploma en/of bachelordiploma hebt behaald in Australië, Canada, Ierland, Nieuw-Zeeland, Singapore, het Verenigd Koninkrijk, de Verenigde Staten of Zuid-Afrika
- Een IB Diploma of EB Diploma (voor Engelstalig onderwijs) hebt behaald.
Het is niet nodig om bij het aanmelden al de testresultaten te overhandigen. Dit kan later.

Prep course Master Veterinary Medicine
Om in aanmerking te komen voor toelating tot de master Diergeneeskunde is deelname aan de Prep Course Master Veterinary Medicine een vereiste. De volgende documenten moeten vóór de deadline worden geüpload:
- Diploma veterinaire internationale vooropleiding
- Bewijs van het behalen van het prep-programme
- Bewijs van behaalde taaleisen
- Een ingevuld motivatieformulier in OSIRIS Online Application
Ga naar Studielink om je aan te melden. Daarna ontvang je inloggegevens voor OSIRIS Online Application om je documenten te uploaden.

In Studielink geef je aan welk startmoment je voorkeur heeft. Dit kan zijn in september, november/december, februari/maart of mei. Plaatsen zijn gelimiteerd*¹, het kan zijn dat je niet geplaatst kan worden in het startmoment van jouw voorkeur. In dat geval krijg je een plaats toegewezen in het eerstvolgende beschikbare startmoment*².
Na het aanmelden in studielink ontvang je een automatisch gegenereerde mail*³ met daarin een link naar de Osiris Online Application (OOA).
*¹ Indien er meer aanmeldingen zijn dan plaatsen in een bepaald startmoment, zal er een loting plaatsvinden.
*² Het aangewezen startmoment mag je weigeren. Meld dit dan uiterlijk twee weken na ontvangst van het plaatsingsbericht via een bericht aan masteradmissions.vet@uu.nl. Als je de plaats weigert, moet je je voor de eerstvolgende deadline opnieuw aanmelden bij studielink en doorloop je dus vervolgens opnieuw de gehele procedure.
*³ Indien je deze mail niet binnen twee dagen ontvangt, meld dit dan via een bericht aan masteradmissions.vet@uu.nl
Nadat je je aanmelding bij Studielink hebt ingediend, ontvang je een e-mail met inloggegevens voor OSIRIS Online Application. Hier kun je alle benodigde documenten uploaden en de status van je aanmelding bekijken.
Nadat je alle documenten in OSIRIS hebt geüpload, beoordeelt de Graduate School ze. Ongeveer een maand na het sluiten van de aanmeldperiode ontvang je een plaatsingsbericht en toelatingsbeschikking.
Als je wordt toegelaten, staat in je toelatingsbrief beschreven wat de volgende stappen zijn om je in te schrijven. In de meeste gevallen is je toelating voorwaardelijk, wat betekent dat je extra documenten moet opsturen of meer stappen moet doorlopen.

In de meeste gevallen is je toelating voorwaardelijk, wat betekent dat je eerst aan aanvullende voorwaarden moet voldoen, zoals het opsturen van gecertificeerde digitale documenten of het volgen van aanvullende cursussen. Deze voorwaarden, evenals de deadline, staan duidelijk vermeld in je aanmeldingsbrief.
Na acceptatie van je aanbod zal ons Visa Office je door het visum- en/of verblijfsvergunningsproces leiden (indien van toepassing).
Geef prioriteit aan het zoeken naar huisvestiging tijdens de voorbereiding op je komst naar Nederland. Het vinden van woonruimte in Utrecht kan lastig zijn en wordt vaak onderschat. Let op: als je voor de start van het collegejaar nog geen woonruimte hebt gevonden, raden we je aan je aanmelding te heroverwegen.
Diploma from a non-Dutch university
On this page, you will find a step-by-step plan for the process of completing your admission to a master’s programme at Utrecht University. Read this information carefully before starting the process.
You are eligible for admission to the programme if you:
- have obtained a bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine (or 180 EC) from an institution accredited by the EAEVE or AVMA , but are not a qualified veterinarian;
- have successfully completed the Prep course Master Veterinary Medicine at Utrecht Summer School;
- meet the language requirements (Dutch and English)
- have the right motivation for the Master in Veterinary Medicine
Please note, that although some components of the programme are taught in English, Dutch is the main language of the Master in Veterinary Medicine.
Language requirements
- IELTS, Academic Module. The minimum required IELTS score (overall band) is 6,5 with at least a 6,0 for the components ‘writing, speaking, listening, and reading’
- TOEFL (Test Of English as a Foreign Language) Minimum required TOEFL score is 93 (internet-based test) with a minimum score of 24 reading, 22 listening, 20 speaking and 20 writing. ITP-TOEFL scores are not accepted.
- Cambridge Certificate (not available/applicable for students from China):
- Cambridge English C1 Advanced (CAE). Minimum score: 176 total, 169 writing
- Cambridge English C2 Proficiency (CPE). Minimum score: 180 total, 169 writing
Exceptions: You do not need to show proof of the language proficiency if you:
- Have obtained a degree from a Dutch university
- Have obtained a high school diploma or bachelor’s degree from an institution in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, or South Africa
- Have obtained an IB Diploma or EB Diploma (English language education)
It is not necessary to submit your test results with your application, this can be done at a later stage in the process.
Dutch language requirements
- NT2, Programma II (State Exam Dutch as a Second Language, Level 2), ‘DUO’. We advise you to apply for this exam at DUO as soon as possible.
- Certificate ‘Nederlands als Vreemde Taal’: ‘Educatief Professioneel' (formerly known as PAT) of ‘Educatief Startbekwaam' (formerly known as PTHO).
Is Dutch your mother tongue, but did you obtain your diploma at a foreign university? Please contact the International Student Admissions. Other students with a diploma from a non-Dutch university have to submit proof of both Dutch and English language proficiency.
It is not necessary to submit your test results with your application, this can be done at a later stage in the process.

Prep course Master Veterinary Medicine
It is required to participate in and complete the Prep Course Master Veterinary Medicine to be admissible for the Master in Veterinary Medicine. The following documents need to be uploaded before the deadline:
- International Bachelor diploma in Veterinary Medicine
- Proof of completing the prep-programme
- Proof of language proficiency (NL and ENG)
- Letter of motivation in OSIRIS Online Application
- Nuffic certificate (for Chinese students)
Visit Studielink and complete the registration process. You can find all information on how to use Studielink here. After completing your Studielink application, you will receive login details for OSIRIS Online Application within 2 working days.
Apply via StudielinkIn Studielink you select a preferred starting date for the Master programme. The starting dates are September, December, March, or May. Places in the programme are limited*¹, it is possible that you will not be placed at your preferred starting date. If this is the case, you will be offered a place for the following available starting date*². After applying to Studielink, you will receive an automatically generated email with a link to the Osiris Online Application. *³
*¹ If there are more applicants than places for a specific starting date, a random selection procedure will be carried out.
*² You are allowed to decline the offered starting place. Please notify the admissions office within two weeks after receiving your placement offer by sending an email to Masteradmissions.vet@uu.nl. If you decline the offer, you will have to apply to Studielink again before the next deadline. You will then have to go through the entire application procedure in the Osiris Online Application again.
*³ If you do not receive this email within 2 days, please notify the admissions office via masteradmissions.vet@uu.nl. Please check your spam folder as well.
After starting your application in Studielink, you will receive an automatically generated email with login details for the Osiris Online Application. Here you have to upload all of the required documents and check the status of your application.
After you have uploaded your documentation in the Osiris Online Application, the Graduate School will assess them. You will receive your placement offer and Proof of Admission letter within one month after the application deadline.
If you are admitted to the Master’s programme, you have to follow the steps described in the placement offer to complete your registration. In many cases, admission is conditional, which means that you have to submit additional documents (like submitting certified digital documents) or complete additional steps (follow a specific course). These conditions and the corresponding deadline are explicitly stated in your letter of admission.
After accepting our offer, you will be guided through the Visa and/or residence permit process by our Visa Office (if applicable).
Please make searching for housing a priority. Finding housing in Utrecht can be very challenging and is often underestimated. Please note: if you have not found housing before the start of the academic year we advise you to reconsider your application.
