Booking rooms

Need to book a study room or instruction room, or are you looking for a location for an event? In the university libraries in the city centre and in Utrecht Science Park different types of rooms are available that can be booked by Utrecht University staff and students.

Booking rooms

All rooms are booked through Resource Booker. Reservations can be made by Utrecht University students and staff only. You borrow the key at the service desk on presentation of your library card.

Group study rooms

There are group study rooms for four to eight people and smaller study rooms for two to four people. You can book a room up to four hours. In Resource Booker you can see which facilities are available for each room. Group study rooms for four to eight people are not available during exam periods.

Individual study rooms

There are 22 individual study rooms and four two-person study rooms on the mezzanine, third floor and sixth floor in University Library Utrecht Science Park. Please borrow the key at the service desk with your library card. Individual and two-person study rooms cannot be reserved in advance, with the exception of individual study room 1.76 in University Library City Centre.

Library instruction room

Utrecht University staff can book room 0.32 at University Library City Centre for library instructions. The room is not available during exam periods and we apply a 30-minute margin between reservations.

Spaces for receptions and meetings

You can reserve the King's Cabinet and the Dining Room for receptions and meetings.

DIY studio Utrecht Science Park

You can record a video clip in the DIY studio 2.48. Lecturers and staff can book the studio through Recource Booker. Students must follow a different procedure. Read more on the Educate-it website.


Terms of use
  • Before using the rooms, you must report to the Service Desk (not the Reception Desk)
  • In order to borrow the key at the Service Desk you must show your library card.
  • You are not allowed to change the standard arrangement of the rooms
  • Food and drink in the rooms are not allowed
  • You are not allowed to put up posters on the walls
  • After using the rooms, you must report to the Service Desk
  • The University Library is not liable for theft, loss of or damage to your personal belongings in the room
  • As a user, you are responsible for the proper use of the room and liable for any damage which has been inflicted on the contents of the room while using the room
  • In case of loss and/or not returning the key on time 200 euros replacement costs will be charged to the person on whose name the key is registered
