Online access via Lean Library

The Lean Library (formerly Library Access) browser extension offers access to a large number of digital scientific sources, no matter where you are. This means you will have more time to spend on your research, thesis or teaching activities instead of trying to get access to sources.

How does it work?

Have a look at the video to find out how Lean Library works

The Lean Library browser extension makes it easier for you to get access to digital sources. After you have downloaded the browser extension, you will see an icon in the bookmarks bar. Every time you visit a website with publications licensed by Utrecht University Library, you are asked to log in for direct access to the publication.

The Lean Library browser extension can be compared to a traffic light; is the icon green, you will have access. A grey icon means no access. A yellow icon? Then the extension has a message for you.

If you come across a publication which may not be available, Lean Library will try to find an open access version for you.

How about my privacy?

The use of Library Access is completely anonymous. The extension collects no personal data, unless you share it yourself. The extension does not keep the IP address or any other computer data.

Read the privacy statement of Lean Library.
