Publishing your thesis

Utrecht University Library publishes open-access Master’s theses in the Utrecht University Student Theses Repository. These can be found via WorldCat and Google Scholar. On this page, you can read about the conditions under which a thesis is published and how you can change its publication status.

Uploading your thesis for archiving

The first step in publishing your Master’s thesis is to upload it via OSIRIS. You can find more information about this on the Student Site.

Publication under an open licence

A Master’s thesis is published under a Creative Commons licence CC-BY-NC-ND. We refer to this as an open licence, and it specifies how others may distribute and (re)use your work.

Once published under this licence, a thesis remains publicly available and freely accessible via the Utrecht University Student Theses Repository for fifteen years, and can be found in WorldCat and Google Scholar.
