Manuscripts from the Treasury
Special Collections houses 750 medieval manuscripts and a number of them are considered real 'masterpieces.' Five manuscripts are so unique that they deserve a place in the Treasury. Some have a specific national or international value, others are invaluable for Utrecht University.
The most famous manuscript is undoubtedly the Utrecht Psalter.[LINK] This masterpiece from the 9th century has been researched and exhibited many times for good reason. The Pontificale of St. Mary [LINK] of the charter of the Utrecht St. Mary's Church is very beautifully illuminated by the Master of Catherine of Cleves and the monumental Zwolle Bible has impressive statistics.
