Scanning and photography
Would you like to use special material for your lectures or study assignments? Part of the collection has already been digitised. If not, you can request a scan for your study, thesis, research or teaching. Sometimes you can also scan or take photographs yourself.
Searching scans
In WorldCat you can check what items are digitally available. Or check the browser for digitised material of Special Collections.
Requesting scans
You can submit a request to have items scanned. We will inform you of the several options and costs (if any).
Creating a scan of photo yourself
After consultation with reading room staff or the curators you can take digital photos of manuscripts, early and rare prints and cartographic material. If needed you can borrow a camera at the service desk of Special Collections. To protect the vulnerable material the number of photos you may take is limited to 25. An A3 scanner is available in the Map Room. Depending on the condition of the material (must be published after 1900), you may scan it yourself.
