Using Data Access Passwords
When you log into the Yoda web portal, you either authenticate using multi-factor authentication with your institutional account (for university employees and students), or with username/password authentication (for external collaborators).
If you however want to connect to Yoda in one of the other ways (e.g., the Network Disk, iBridges, iCommands), you will have to authenticate with your email address and a data access password. A data access password is a temporary password generated by Yoda that you can use for a short time (typically 30 days).
How to create a data access password?
1. Log into the web interface (see the list of environments here). Click on the yellow button with your email address in the top right corner. In the menu that shows, select "Data Access Password".
2. Click on the yellow button "Generate new data access password" to generate a new password.
3. Optionally, provide a label for your data access password. This is useful in case you use multiple data access passwords on different computers.
4. Once generated, save the data access password in a secure location, such as your password manager. You can use the password in combination with your email address when you want to connect to Yoda via the Network Disk, iBridges or iCommands.
5. After you have copied the password and closed the dialog, you will see an overview of your active data access passwords and their expiration date. After that date, you will have to generate a new data access password in order to access Yoda via your local device.
Please note that your data access password is strictly personal and should not be shared with other people. Utrecht University IT staff will never ask you to share your data access password with them.
