Requesting Yoda data manager rights

Data managers that assist and advise researchers that use Yoda in a research project, chair group, research department, faculty or institution that you are affiliated with, can request data manager rights for Yoda at their Yoda support desk

If you have data manager rights within a Yoda instance, you can do the following:

  • create new research groups;
  • approve requests to archive data packages in the vault;
  • approve requests to publish data packages;
  • access (read) data of the entire Yoda instance, regardless of membership to the individual groups;
  • in some cases, add users to groups, change their role, and (in some cases) create new categories and/or subcategories (‘group manager’).

Please note that to attain data manager rights, you do not necessarily need to be a data manager, but we do require that the person getting the data manager rights in Yoda has knowledge of and an affinity with data management.

Yoda instance exists and is already being used actively

When Yoda is already being used by the group that you are affiliated with and you want data manager rights, you can request these at your own Yoda support desk by stating why you require these rights and for which Yoda instance.

Yoda instance exists but is not used by the group

When a Yoda instance already exists for your faculty, but the research group you are affiliated with has never used Yoda before, you will need to request a category within that specific Yoda instance

You can request a category at your own Yoda support desk by stating for which research group a category has to be created and what the name of that category should be and determine whether arrangements have to be made to handle the costs of Yoda within your research group, department, faculty, university or institution.

Yoda instance does not exist, but is desired

If researchers in the group you are affiliated with want to use Yoda as a data management platform, but no instance exists yet for this group, then a new Yoda instance could be created for you. Please check the list of existing environments to determine if a Yoda instance already exists for your faculty, department, university or institution. If one already exists, you could get a category within this environment.

When one does not exist, contact your local Yoda support desk and request a Yoda instance to be created by stating the faculty, department, university or institution you work for, what the name of the instance should be, what the name of that category within the instance should be,  a number to which the costs should be booked, and a person that will act as a data manager for that instance. Your local support team will then contact you further to determine whether your request is eligible for the creation of a new Yoda environment.
