Dr. Martijn Huysmans

Martijn Huysmans is an Assistant Professor at the Utrecht University School of Economics (U.S.E). He conducts research at the intersection of economics and political science (political economy) and teaches in the new Politics, Philosophy, & Economics (PPE) bachelor program. He specializes in EU institutional design and the protection and trade of EU regional specialty foods (geographical indications) such as Prosciutto di Parma and Gouda Holland. His love of food, economics and politics all meet in his research. Martijn obtained his PhD at KU Leuven in 2018, but he also spent time at Wharton (Upenn), Stanford University, and the Boston Consulting Group.
