Lieke Stelling is Associate Professor in English literature. She studied English literature at Utrecht and University College London, before obtaining her PhD at Leiden University. Her first monograph investigates how religious conversion was staged in the plays of Shakespeare and his contemporaries. In 2022, she embarked on a new research project which examines how works of fiction from across Renaissance Europe contributed to conceptions of European identity, in a material as well as a literary sense.

Lieke Stelling has been a member of the Utrecht Young Academy, a bridge between young and talented researchers, since 2019.
