Dr. ir. Francien Peterse.

Francien Peterse is an Assistant Professor of Organic Geochemistry. She uses specific molecules, so-called biomarkers, to research processes such as the connection between land and sea in the global carbon cycle or climate changes that occurred in the past. After obtaining her PhD at the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ), she left for ETH Zürich with a Postdoc fellowship but returned in 2013 with a Veni grant.

How can we decrease uncertainties on projections of future climate change?

Francien Peterse has been a member of the Utrecht Young Academy, a bridge between young and talented researchers, since 2017.
