Dr. Edwin Pos

Edwin Pos is Scientific Director at Utrecht University Botanic Gardens and Assistant Professor at the Department of Biology. He is interested in the use and development of theoretical and empirical methods to quantify the dynamics of ecosystems. His work emphasizes an interdisciplinary approach, adding principles from physics, mathematics, and information sciences to the ecological toolbox. 

After obtaining his PhD (2018) he became a lecturer at Utrecht University in evolution and ecology and as of 2022 is leading the research unit of Quantitative Biodiversity Dynamics in addition to his tasks as scientific director at the gardens. He was awarded Teacher of the Year at the department of Biology in 2019 and New Scientist Scientific Talent in 2021.
