Thijs Hogenkamp

Thijs Hogenkamp's bachelor thesis project in physics concerns the analogies (and disanalogies) between spacetime curvature and optical lensing that led Sir Roger Penrose to developing his first singularity theorem. This project investigates the ways in which negative lenses are analogous and disanalogous to specific spacetime curvatures, and the extent to which the analogy with optical lenses can teach us something about energy in general relativity.
