Mon-Ray Shao

Mon-Ray Shao is investigating quantitative resistance to lettuce downy mildew (Bremia lactucae) as part of the PATHOVIEW project using image-based phenotyping approaches. These include 2D ultraviolet imaging combined with machine/deep learning, as well as 3D imaging and quantification of Bremia using optical coherence tomography. The aim of his research is to develop new tools for studying downy mildew and to identify novel loci associated with downy mildew resistance in lettuce.
