Translations play a crucial role in the change processes we are constantly experiencing in today's dynamic and multilingual world. The necessity of both translation itself and learning to understand what translation involves is increasing day by day.

Utrecht is the centre for translation education and research in the Netherlands. We offer education at Master's level in Translation and in Literary Translation (both Dutch-taught). The Translation programme includes a long internship to ensure strong links with the professional field. For follow-up education and further professional development in literary translation, the Centre of Expertise for Literary Translation (Expertisecentrum Literair Vertalen, ELV) has been active since 2001 as an alliance between KU Leuven and Utrecht University.
