The Universe and I
December 18, 2024, Sonnenborgh Observatory
How can the universe help us look differently at ourselves and the world? On December 18 2024, writer and theatre maker Marjolijn van Heemstra took us on a journey through time and space at the historic Sonnenborgh Observatory in Utrecht.
Based on her books In light-years, no one is in a hurry and What is space worth?, we explored themes during the evening such as:
- Our connection to the universe and the impact of this awareness on our lives;
- How the immense scale of time and space in the universe can influence our thinking, feeling, and actions on Earth;
- The long history of human appropriation of nature and how we can (re)find connection with the world around us.
This evening was organized by Van Hier Naar [...], Centre for Global Challenges (Utrecht University), Future Food Utrecht (Utrecht University), and The New Utrecht School.
