It's Getting Hot

On 7 October 2021, a group of artists, scientists, and healthcare professionals spoke about climate change and healthcare. This was the third public dialogue in the context of the 385th anniversary of Utrecht University and the University Medical Center Utrecht.

Heat, health, and our future

It is getting hotter on our planet, in our countries, in our cities. Climate change has serious implications for public health. But, what can we do about it? We can adapt our buildings, treat heat-related diseases better, try to influence policy, or encourage citizens to change behavior through art.

  • Prof. dr. ir. Wilco Hazeleger is professor Climate System Science at Utrecht University and dean of the de Faculty of Geosciences. 
  • Thomas Bögl is an architect and partner at LIAG architects and construction consultants. 
  • Maria Koijck is a spatial artist, community artist, and activist.  
  • Evelyn Brakema is a researcher in Sustainability and Health(care) and founder of the Green Care Alliance.
