Sustainability Education Community Fund

Attention: Upcoming deadline 1 November 2026

The Sustainability Education community believes that bottom-up initiatives are essential in building a vibrant network of sustainability educators, researchers, and learners. To further support this mission, we reserve 75% of our annual community budget for the Sustainability Education Community Fund.

We fund initiatives (e.g. workshops, seminars, pilots) that:

  • Strengthen our community
  • Increase visibility of our community within and beyond UU
  • Contribute to the mission and objectives of the Sustainability Education community;
  • Align with the mission of the strategic theme Pathways to Sustainability;
  • Actively involve other members of the Sustainability Education community;
  • Foster exchange and collaboration across disciplines, faculties, and with external partners.

Community Aims

The Sustainability Education community aims to:

  • Ensure that every Utrecht University student graduates with a solid foundation in sustainability knowledge, skills, and attitudes, regardless of their field of study;
  • Support and strengthen sustainability education as a field of research at Utrecht University and wider in society.

  • Create and support rich learning pathways for students seeking deeper engagement with sustainability, including through specialised courses, interdisciplinary programmes, and real-world challenges;
  • Connect and support teachers and students who are actively committed to sustainability education, amplifying their efforts through shared resources and collective action;
  • Develop and disseminate practical frameworks and pedagogical approaches that embed sustainability competencies across all disciplines;
  • Foster cross-faculty and cross-disciplinary collaboration, as well as connections with external stakeholders, to build a powerful network of sustainability champions.

Criteria
