The urban environment can have a major influence on population health outcomes. The Healthy Urban Living team is currently undertaking several investigations comparing the factors influencing health at the neighbourhood and other spatial levels. Health data from medical files or surveys will be combined with neighbourhood-specific factors in order to understand how the environment influences population health outcomes. Accessibility to healthy food and transport options, opportunities for engagement with people and green space in residential environments and while being mobile can all have a meaningful influence on people’s health.

The Healthy Urban Living team undertakes research investigating the links between these issues, in order to advance our understanding of how urban environments can be influenced to maximize health outcomes.
