The objective of the Healthy Urban Living programme is to create an authoritative platform for research and debate, to help cities become places that encourage healthy living. Healthy Urban Living was established in 2013 and currently contains researchers from a number of different organizations, working in a multidisciplinary manner to improve the health of people in cities. The HUL programme is involved with a range of international partners, across Europe, Asia and North America.

The Healthy Urban Living programme is part of Utrecht University’s strategic research theme ‘Sustainability’. The ambition of the programme is to develop comprehensive expertise for the development and governance of sustainable urban environments that foster physical and mental health and well-being for all.
