The role of mother’s milk smell on mother-infant bonding
Smell is incredibly important for baby’s, who’s primary sense to orient towards food, security and away from danger is olfaction. That means that the communication between mother and child also primarily relies on smell, not only from mother to baby, but also the other way around: from baby to mother. In this line of research, we investigate the details of this relationship, with a focus on the role of mother’s milk on communication.
This project lies within the theme’s Dynamics of Youth and Future Food, and is a collaboration with Judith Dubas and Marca Wauben.
