Effects of smell on motivated behaviour
By giving people smells to smell in virtual reality, we investigate how a realistic environment adds to how smells influence motivated behavior. We see that both real world environments such as a matching smell (cleaning scents) motivate our behavior, compared to sterile, non-matching but pleasant scents. Within this project, we also look at the role of disgust sensitivity and our propensity to avoid and sensitivity for certain smells.
This latter part of the project is a collaboration with Josh Tybur (VU).
