Working on a knowledge fundament for fact-based decision-making

A solid knowledge fundament is essential for a sustainable management of NPUH's natural and cultural-historical landscapes. Currently, a lack of knowledge on the current state of the national park's nature and the effects of a shifting climate stands in the way of a sustainable future of the area under threat. The Research & Education Hub Utrechtse Heuvelrug aims to create valuable insights to support fact-based decision making and preserve the natural and cultural-historical landscapes of the national park.

Situated in the highly urbanized province of Utrecht, the NPUH cannot be considered as an isolated natural system but should be approached with attention for interacting anthropogenic influences. Therefore, to effectively bridge the gap between UU research and impact in the national park, stakeholders in the area are actively engaged in transdisciplinary research on five highly interrelated research themes.
