Software and computing

Utrecht University offers its employees tools and services to model and analyse your data, and to manage your code.

Software

Utrecht University promotes Open Science and the use of open source applications like Python and Rstudio/R for analyses and modelling. We provide open introductory courses for Python and R, provide support for Python and R during the RDM Walk in hours, and those applications are available as Virtual Research Environments. Licensed tools MATLAB, SPSS, SAS, STATA and any more are also available as applications on your Solis desktop or laptop. Some tools can also be installed on your private computer.

Click here for an overview of available software and installation guidance. The licenses of some tools are restricted to researchers from specific faculties.

Services

RDM Support offers access and support for High Performance Computing (HPC), Virtual Research Environments (VREs), GitHub and Git and a Shiny webserver (R).
