PhD Regenerative Medicine
Regenerative Medicine is one of 14 PhD Programmes at Utrecht University. We offer an inspiring, multidisciplinary and translational education program in the area of regenerative medicine, including fundamental and developmental biology, processes and mechanisms of disease, technical innovation and clinical application.

As a PhD candidate in the Netherlands, you are not a student but a university employee, in most cases. Utrecht University offers several options for PhD candidates. For general information about how to find a PhD position, we kindly refer to the website of the Graduate School of Life Sciences (GSLS):
A PhD position is a full-time job, and everything related to your position (contract, immigration, etc.) is arranged by the department you will be joining. There is no set start date for a PhD position; it depends on the department you join and the time it takes for you to immigrate to The Netherlands.

1. Make an appointment with the PhD Coordinator
Once you have successfully applied for a PhD position, you can enroll in a PhD programme within the Utrecht Graduate School of Life Sciences. For more information about starting your PhD at Utrecht University, we kindly refer to their website.
If you want to join the PhD programme Regenerative Medicine, you will need an intake meeting with our PhD Coordinator, Dr. Koen Braat. Please send an e-mail to make an appointment: RM-PhD@umcutrecht.nl
2. Register in MyPhD
PhD candidates are required to register in the university-wide PhD-candidate tracking system MyPhD before a PhD track can start. All involved supervisors and other involved parties then inspect and approve this registration. Please follow the steps here.
3. Fill out your TSA (Training and Supervision Agreement)
Among others, our PhD Course Coordinator will inform you about the Training and Supervision Agreement (TSA). To safeguard the quality of the training and supervision of PhD candidates, the Graduate School of Life Sciences introduced a uniform TSA for all PhD candidates. PhD students in the RM programme are required to fill out a TSA within three months after start of employment. After you have filled out your TSA and obtained all signatures, please send it to our PhD Coordinator for a signature on behalf of the RM programme:

Your TSA will be returned to you by internal mail or can be picked up after it has been approved and signed by the program. It is your own responsibillity to send the original TSA with all required signatures to the Dean of your faculty. Please, also keep a copy of your TSA and give one to your supervisor.
