Collaboration within hubs
Together with its partners, Utrecht University has made plans to tackle twenty key societal challenges. For this purpose, the university allocates 26 million euros for the period between 2018 and 2022.
Our aim is to increase our impact by tackling specific key challenges in a multidisciplinary way, together with our social partners.
The collaboration takes place in twenty hubs within the strategic research themes of the university. Hubs are the ultimate representation of a new way of thinking: one that is not based on the application or 'valorisation' of previously acquired academic knowledge but on joining forces with others to ponder research questions and strategies.
An example of such a question is: How can we improve in vitro models in such a way that this leads to medical progress and a reduction in animal testing? Or: How can we realise our strive for diets that are both good for the planet and all its inhabitants?
