Photobiology
Several of our walk-in growth chambers have various light intensity and spectral composition options, that are used to perform different manipulations of light quality in a white light background in order to study different aspects of shade avoidance responses to neighbors.
We manipulate Red/Far-red light ratio’s (R:FR) with FR-emitting LEDs, both pre-assembled Valoya FR arrays (730 nm) and using custom-built FR-emitting narrow light bundles to do sub-organ-specific far-red light treatments.
Blue light is manipulated using Lee filters (medium Yellow) that specifically absorb blue light (400-500 nm), and vegetation shade is mimicked with Lee Fern Green filters.
In addition, we have growth cabinets that are fully equipped with LEDs, both white light, as well RED/BLUE/WHITE mixtures, both with option built-in for FR supplementation.
