Communities

The Network for Environmental Humanities aims to develop sustainable communities with societal partners on three urgent and societally relevant themes:

  Water Cultures From rivers, lakes and glaciers to estuaries, seas and oceans, our planet is undergoing rapid water changes leading to increased cultural adaptation. How can we relate to evolving environments and their consequences for human and nonhuman species?

  Climate and the Imagination As climate change alters the very fabric of our world, it also transforms how we imagine and conceptualise the future. We aim to bridge scientific, cultural, and social realms, enabling us to explore how people interpret, narrate, and respond to the changing climate.
• 

  Ecological (In)justice Our research includes topics such as interspecies justice, climate ethics, ecocide and the limits of capitalism. We also aim to employ a wide range of methods and approaches, including ecofeminism and indigenous knowledge.
