In the Atom Optics group we study Bose-Einstein condensates in a unique situation, namely that the interactions between the superfluid and thermal atoms are in the hydrodynamic regime.
In our group, we aim to realize a new paradigm in imaging in scattering materials by integrating concepts from these distinct fields.
In the Atom plasmonics group, we use nano structures as traps for atoms. When the atoms are close to these structures, we can study how the plasmonics excitations couple to the atoms.
We investigate and explore non-conventional method of imaging in scattering materials by integrating concepts from distinct fields such as space-time wavefront shaping, compressive sensing, adaptive optics and optical metrology.
