Sugar signalling and growth control / Protein translation

My major research interest is metabolic control of growth. I am fascinated over the intimate integration of physiological and developmental processes in plants. Plants have evolved unique regulatory circuits, built on the regulatory pathways present in all eukaryotes.

I mainly study plant transcription factors, their regulation and how the factors affect gene transcription and metabolism. I am also interested in the regulation of translation on the global as well on the gene specific level.

Apart from my research in Utrecht I am as well leading a group in Umeå Plant Science Centre in Sweden. I am also coordinating an EU-wide network on metabolic reprogramming in Arabidopsis.
