Conference Migration & Societal Change
In recent years, the topic of migration has taken center stage in political, social, and scientific discussions. As wars, conflicts, and climate change continue to uproot people from their homes, urgent debates around integration, discrimination, racism, and the legal frameworks of migration have highlighted the need for a deeper understanding of this complex concept and its history.
To that end, the focus area Migration and Societal Change is proud to present the Migration and Societal Change conference on June 22nd and 23rd, 2023 in Utrecht. This thought-provoking and multidisciplinary conference will feature the latest scientific findings and policy approaches related to migration, contributing to the public debate on the issue and inspiring new thinking.
By bringing together a diverse range of perspectives and engaging with the most pressing questions surrounding migration, we hope to shed light on this crucial topic and foster a greater understanding of the challenges and opportunities it presents.
In addition to the keynote lectures, there will be over 30 panels and workshops available for attendees to participate in. These sessions will feature panelists from the USA, South Africa, and various European countries, covering a wide range of topics related to migration.
From discussions around the intersection of migration and climate change, to exploring issues of discrimination and racism, to examining the representation of migration in art and literature, the panels offer a diverse and thought-provoking array of perspectives on this complex topic.
Participation in the conference is completely free of charge. The registration is open until and including the 1st of June 2023. While we can provide information on accommodation options in the area, visitors are responsible for organizing their own travel and accommodations privately.
