Citizen science
At Utrecht University, there are ongoing research projects for which we seek participants: from children to (young) adults. Our research team regularly has some great citizen science projects.
ongoing projects
Exposoom Panelstudie
Over 500 people living in the Netherlands (18 years or older) are working with us to collect data about the environment in which they live, work and recreate. They are mapping their environment by using an app and a number of measuring instruments.
Research on electromagnetic fields exposure in young children
We are looking for parents with children ages 0-12 to complete a short online questionnaire about mobile device use. The results will impact future studies on the potential health risks of electromagnetic fields.
Completed projects
Research into wood smoke
PhD candidate Fleur Froeling involved non-scientists in every phase of her research, including the choice of topic: wood smoke.
Study on impact of microplastics on women's health
Together with 100 women from the Utrecht region, aged 18-45, researchers mapped how many microplastics are present in their bodies and the impact of external factors.
Research on light during night work
Female nurses performed a number of personalized measurements over five days at home. This allowed us to identify the influence of exposure to light during the night as well as the subsequent possible biological disruption of the day and night rhythm.
