Funding and Support
If you want to organize an event, the Open Cities Platform can help you with that. Below, we elaborate upon the possibilities to apply for funding.
Funding Institutions of Open Societies
We offer mentoring for UU staff wishing to apply to the several funding options of the Institutions of Open Societies. If interested, please email us at opencities@uu.nl outlining your funding objectives and providing a comprehensive exposition on how they align with the thematic focus of OCP.
Funding Open Cities Platform
The Open Cities Platform offers a 1,000 euro seed grant that helps temporary and/or permanent staff of UU to expand their networks and collaborate with other scholars to organise 1-2 days events. These events could acquire different formats from symposia, to workshops, masterclasses, or even roundtable discussions. The proposed event should:
- have a clear scholarly and educational outcome that corresponds to the objectives of OCP.
- be taking place at least four weeks after each application assessment round (see below).
- have a UU employee as its first applicant. In case a UU PhD candidate or temporary lecturer wants to apply, their application should be supported by a permanent UU staff member as a second applicant.
For more information on our previously funded projects, please check our Projects page.
If you are interested in applying, please send the form below to us at opencities@uu.nl. The OCP board assesses applications three times per academic year (October, January, May), after which we will inform you of our decision. The deadlines for each application moment are as follows:
- Round 1: September 30th, 23:59 (closed).
- Round 2: January 10th, 23:59
- Round 3: April 30th, 23:59
